London, UK (PRWEB UK) 11 August 2011
BusinessBecause.com, the world’s first global networking site for MBA students, and the only global networking site to be launched and based in London, UK, has launched interactive map on its homepage and other tools to help MBA students, recruiters, business schools and MBA applicants find each other
About BusinessBecause.com
BusinessBecause.com is a news, networking and jobs site for the business school world, helping applicants choose a business school and business students find a job.
It’s the first ever specialist networking site for people before, during and after business school, launched in 2009.
BusinessBecause is fast approaching 15,000 registered members from more than 150 countries.
We publish daily stories including business student views on the Egypt revolution, the Japan earthquake, and interviews with personalities like Facebook co-founder Divya Narendra.
It’s FREE for any individual to join. Once registered, members can create an online resume, apply for jobs, search for and message other members around the world and publish their own stories.
How BusinessBecause.com got started
Founding duo Maria Ahmed and Kate Jillings went to high school together in London and then Oxford University.
They came up with the idea for a specialist b-school networking site when Kate was applying to b-school and couldn’t find much info about what the people and programs were really like.
Before BusinessBecause, Kate spent eight years in marketing roles, including product marketing at GlaxoSmithKline and head of strategic marketing for French investment bank BNP Paribas.
Maria was financial journalist. She did her Masters in Journalism at Columbia University, followed by writing jobs at Euromoney and Global Agenda (the Davos magazine), and as business manager for the Chairman of HBOS bank.
Sian Fleming-Jones, a graduate of Imperial College and the Accenture graduate training scheme, joined the all-female team in early 2009.
The initial website, a simple online magazine, went live in mid-2009, with early sponsorship support from the George Washington School of Business in Washington DC and Cass Business School in London.
The networking version of the site, enabling members to build resumes and connect to other members, went live in mid-2010.
It’s the only (or at least one of the very few… can you think of any others?!) global networking sites launched and based in London, UK.
Following the success of BusinessBecause, a new networking site for engineering students and graduates, EngineeringBecause.com, is due to launch by the end of August 2011.
